Book Review of Don't Keep Me a Secret

I recently read a book titled Don't Keep Me a Secret: Proven Tactics to Get Referrals and Introductions by Bill Cates. Cates instructs the reader to take a proactive stance in asking for and taking care of referrals. The book delivers some great pointers, most notably; the 7 deadly referral mistakes and how to avoid them, 12 ways to get great prospects calling you, 10 social prospecting ideas that generate referrals, 6 tactics for stronger introductions and how to ask for referrals without begging or pushing. Perhaps the most interesting of the 7 deadly referral mistakes is #4, being "not referable." How does Cates define being referable? Surprisingly, it's not your great products, the level of customer service or your personality that will make you more referable.

Take a Stand for Your Business

As business owners and salespeople we've all experienced abusive customers. Now, I'm not talking about literal physical abuse. I'm talking about abuse of the sales process and abuse of your time. These abusive customers will do things like lead you along, refuse to return your calls or even treat you disrespectfully.
